THE 3 BEST COLLECTIONS FROM RESORT 2018 SO FAR

THE 3 BEST COLLECTIONS FROM RESORT 2018 SO FAR

Summer is here, and Resort collections are coming in hot on the runway. Though we all wish we could go on a mini shopping spree to stock up on light material and pastel-colored vacation-wear to stuff into our suitcases, this isn't necessarily feasible for those of us making less than $100 a week. But the pieces shown on the runway are no longer regarded as the end-all-be-all of what to purchase, rather used as inspiration for what to invest in, and what to stock-up on when you have a little extra cash to spend. The Resort 2018 collections revived classic and introduced contemporary styles that are perfect for when the temperatures become warmer and the sun starts to shine.

Below are the 3 best collection from Resort 2018, so far.

Enter Chanel: where classic textiles meet modern bohemian. Karl Lagerfeld managed to stay true to the original Chanel roots, while incorporating the popular boho trend into his Resort 2018 collection. Lagerfeld's unfinished hem maxi dress, accessorized with layers of gold necklaces and arm cuffs, completed with turquoise gladiator sandals created a perfect cohesion of classic Chanel house roots and of-the-moment styles. Overall, the collection radiated grecian vibes that played into this year's most-worn trend. By including textiles like tweed and boucle into the line, Lagerfeld elevated the hippie look in order to reach a luxury clientele.

Prada has a history of being a rule-breaker, and their Resort 2018 collection was no exception. Straying away from the typical "rich mom goes to the Hamptons" look, Prada played with a dark color palette, romantic textiles like lace and chiffon, while adding hints of athleisure. The statement of the collection was a mix of knee-high and mid-calf socks that resembled sportswear. The clothing, on-the-other-hand, combined layering with delicate materials that are unusual for resort lines. While Prada's collection was atypical for vacation-inspired season, the breezy materials used are perfect for anyone looking to venture out of the ordinary but still be comfortable while traveling.

At Dion Lee's Resort 2018 show, swim coverups got a stylish update with bold and asymmetrical hues and silhouettes. Flip-flops paired with chunky oversized sweaters adorned the outdoor runway and created a cozy alternative to sheer crochet mini-dresses that sunburned vacationers typically sport during their travels. But unlike fellow designers in the game, Lee turned towards shades of blue and red for his collection, which stood out amongst the spectrum of sandy browns, blush pinks, and soft whites. But the collection didn't just stop at clothing, as Lee featured extravagant hats and futuristic sunnies to complete his luxe lounge looks.
