WHAT I WEAR ON A GIRLS DAY OUT
Don't be deceived—it was sub-zero outside when these photos were taken. But nonetheless, my sister and I wanted to dress cute when we were walking around downtown. For us, comfort is always key, which is why we chose to wear big comfy sweaters over sheer (and unpractical in this tundra-like weather) blouses.
My sister Samantha is a jeans girl, and I'm definitely a tights girl. For her look, she wore a butterfly sleeve sweater paired with black skinnies both from Tobi. To accessorize and keep her neck warm, she threw on a cranberry-colored scarf, and completed the look with worn-in combat boots (PSA: combat boots are so trendy right now, here are some of my faves: 1 | 2 | 3). The oversized sleeves of her sweater were offset by the tight-fitting jeans. This ensemble was comfortable, proportionally balanced, and perfect for a day out-and-about.
My look was still comfortable and warm, but instead of wearing jeans I opted for sparkly tights, worn under a gorgeous wrap skirt from Tobi. To stay extra warm, I wore an oversized turtleneck sweater, OTK suede boots, and a beanie. As someone who typically looks horrible in hats, I found that wearing my hair in pigtails is the perfect match for a tight-fitting hat, such as a beanie. If you're someone who also struggles with feeling confident and comfortable when wearing a hat, try pigtails! Here are a few of my favorite pigtail-spiration photos: 1 | 2 | 3!
Whoever said you can't be comfortably cute when venturing out in freezing weather was wrong! It is possible. Take ideas from my sister and I the next time time to decide to head out when the weather is less than ideal.
