GLOWING GODDESS | SPRING MAKEUP & SKINCARE ROUTINE (PART 1)

GLOWING GODDESS | SPRING MAKEUP & SKINCARE ROUTINE (PART 1)

After years of trial and error I feel as though I have finally combated my oily skin.  While a glowing and dewy face is in, I never enjoyed having my shine on my chin and forehead, and having to carry around oil-blotting sheets or translucent powder in my purse to manage the grease throughout the day.  As someone who was convinced I could fix my "skin problems" with drugstore products, I soon learned that not only are drugstore products filled with cheap ingredients, but they don't work.  I found that when I spent a little more money on better products my skin not only looked better but felt better.

Today, I'm sharing with you my updated skincare routine that's perfect for spring
you'll look glowy and feel confident.  Stay tuned for next week's post on the makeup I use to achieve the perfect complexion.

SKINCARE

While I truly believe that good skin is a result of what you put inside your body — your "diet" and what you eat — I also believe that good skin requires quality topical products. I have been using Alba Botanica ever since my mom introduced me to the brand in high school, and I have sworn by their products ever since.  Alba is a 100-percent vegan line (except for their lip products which contain beeswax) that is also cruelty-free, and their products are earth friendly and made with biodegradable ingredients that don't hurt the planet.  As someone who lives a vegan lifestyle investing in a brand that follows my ethical beliefs is very important to me, and I truly believe that my clear skin is in result of the vegan lifestyle I live.

The three Alba products that I swear by and use daily is their Even Advanced Sea Moss Daily Moisturizer, Even Advanced Sea Plus Renewal Night Cream, and their Even Advanced Sea Mineral Cleansing Gel.

HERE'S MY ROUTINE:

MORNING:
Each morning I gently wash my face with cold water (this not only wakes up your pores but also wakes yourself up!) and apply a small amount of the Alba Cleansing Gel on my fingertips and wash my face in a circular motion.  It's SO important to wash your face every morning because it removes any residue that could have built-up overnight.

POST-FACE WASHING:
Before I apply my makeup and right after I wash my face I put on the Alba Daily Moisturizer.  This moisturizer has SPF 15 which is incredibly important in protecting your skin from the sun — even if it's not sunny outside your skin is still exposed to harmful UV rays.  For this moisturizer a little bit definitely goes a long way, so I only do one small squeeze, dot the product all over my face, and gently apply the product upwards.  It's important to apply your moisturizer upwards because that's the direction that your pores open, and you want to make sure that the moisturizer really sinks into your skin to reap full benefits!

NIGHT:
At night I wash my face with the same Alba Cleansing Gel that I wash my face with in the morning.  Same directions, same everything.  As important as it is to wash your face in the morning it's even more important to wash it at night, especially if you wear makeup or have worked out that day.

PRE-BEDTIME:
Right before bed I apply the Alba Night Moisturizer.  This product ensures that my skin is hydrated all throughout the night and helps with anti-aging.  Though I'm only 20, it's so important to take care of your skin when you're young so you don't have wrinkles when you get older!
