DRESSING "SEXY" | HOW TO ACHIEVE THE LOOK WITHOUT LOSING YOUR SELF RESPECT

DRESSING "SEXY" | HOW TO ACHIEVE THE LOOK WITHOUT LOSING YOUR SELF RESPECT

This article may sound controversial for many of you, especially when "feminism" is a reigning topic in today's world.  While I completely agree with equality for women, I don't agree with disrespecting your body and calling it "feminism."  Showing skin shouldn't be used as a pawn for "feminism," claiming that the way you dress should not matter because "men should learn how to respect women."  As much as I agree with that statement, I think there still needs to be a level of respect between you and your body.  Equality requires us women taking an equal step to try to make change, not just assuming men are the only ones who need to do so.

In this article, I'm going to be talking about to achieve that sexy look without have to use "feminism" as an excuse.  These looks will embrace your natural curves while still leaving a little bit for surprise.

A small disclaimer...

If you've gotten this far and are thinking, "wow this girl is way out of line, who does she think she is?" I challenge you to reconsider your "feminist" values.  If "feminism" is allowing women to speak freely on whatever they want, I am allowed to speak against certain parts of "feminism."  For those of you who are intrigued, read on and I hope you enjoy.

looking busty without showing AN ABSURD AMOUNT OF cleavage?

what a revelation!

The Halter Top:

For those of you who are lacking in the "girls" department -- don't worry, I feel you -- it's important to show as little skin as possible.  Surprise, it gives the illusion of actually being bustier!  My favorite kind of top to wear in order to achieve this illusion is a halter top.  Because the fabric elongates the look of your bust area, it helps make your cup size look bigger without anyone noticing!

Why this works:

When you are lacking in the "girls" department and show off your skin assuming a big chest will magically appear... you're not fooling anyone.  It's more obvious that you're lacking when you're showing.

Some of my favorite halter tops:

The Long-Sleeved Cami

I recently discovered the cami long before I realized my true love for fashion.  But it wasn't until my true love for Free People that I really discovered all of the "cami wonders."  The cami's that are sold at Free People are more-so considered layering tops -- you can wear them underneath your clothes, on it's own or with several different pieces.  Being a girl with a small bust, I can tell you that these layering tops work wonders especially when you wear them alone.  The tightness not only slims down your body, but accentuates your chest area.

Why this works:

Tight clothing is a great way to enhance a body part that normally fly's under the radar.  Since tighter clothing stretches along places that are "protruding" (for lack of a better word) from your body, it allows that area to appear larger.

LONG AND LEAN LEGS WITHOUT FLASHING ALL WHO WALK BEHIND YOU?

SORCERY I TELL YOU, SORCERY!

Tights for Life

If you're the type of lady who loves a good mini-skirt, yet has not invested in a collection of tights... what are you doing with your life?!  Tights are the real MVP when it comes to all things skirts -- especially those that are either really tight, really short or a combination of the both (tight and short? I mean, you do you girl).  But tights will be your absolute lifesaver if you're not into flashing everyone who walks behind you and want your legs to look killer.

Why this works:

Tights -- regardless if they're opaque or sheer -- are 99.9% of the time made out of spandex material.  Spandex holds everything in place -- if you know what I mean -- giving the illusion that your legs are thin, smooth and sculpted.

Some of my favorite tights:

The All-Black-Everything Bottom

Colors and shades can do a lot for your body.  Black especially is the perfect shade to wear when you want your body to look slim and fit.  If you're going for the slim-legs-look, opt for black bottoms instead of any other color.  Even if you want to wear a short skirt, you don't have to go THAT short and still have your legs look fab -- just above the knee is short enough!

Why this works:

Black is a color that tends to hide the details of your body.  Instead of highlight certain attributes to your shape, it shadows right over it. No one will even see the "imperfections" on your body when wearing black!

My favorite black bottoms (leggings included):

WALKING WITHOUT FALLING?

WHAT A CONCEPT!

The Bootie

Many women think that in order to have the ultimate "sex appeal" they need to wear 7-inch stilettos.  And for the 5% of the women population that can successfully walk without falling in them -- congratulations.  But for the rest of us, trying to wear this kind of shoe knowing thatyou will stumble around, will make you look anything but sexy -- more like uncoordinated with a poor sense of picking out shoes.  But low-and-behold comes the ankle bootie.  A shoe that I have been obsessing over in almost every post since circa 2014. And trust me, I'm not lying when I say that booties will be your lifesaver.  Your lifesaver from avoiding a near make-out sesh. with the concrete sidewalk and other embrassing moments that we all encounter on a day-to-day basis.

Why this works:

Ankle booties can give off the ultimate "dang girl" vibe.  Choosing from textures such as faux suede and leather can instantly amp up any plain outfit going from 0-10 instantly.  Not to mention, booties have a thicker heel that can vary between 1 inch - 4 inches allowing your walk to go with ease and you won't have to worry about tripping.

My favorite ankle booties:

Dressing "sexy" can be achievable without having to loose your self-respect or show off an absurd amount of skin.  Whether you want to believe it or not, you will get attention by dressing creatively.  Skin shouldn't be used as a way to "get attention."  Being fashionably confident -- and confident in general -- is a great way to be sexy without having to show off all that you've got.

Are you going to be trying these different tricks?  If so, let me know in the comments below which one was your favorite!
