LUSCIOUS LOCKS | IN COLLABORATION WITH L'OREAL PARIS + THE CAFFEINATED CHAIR

LUSCIOUS LOCKS | IN COLLABORATION WITH L'OREAL PARIS + THE CAFFEINATED CHAIR

I've never been good at fixing my hair.  In junior high, the messy bun was my go-to look and was an easy way to get my crazy ringlets off of my face.  In high school, I was introduced to the hair straightener and my love for ballet buns was kindled.  In college, I learned how to curl my hair and yet somehow the high ponytail became my go-to look.  The reasoning why I didn't wear hair down very often wasn't because I was lazy and didn't feel like putting the time into fixing my hair, but because my hair lacked manageability.  Being a vegan and someone who is passionate about animal rights, I always struggled finding products for my hair that are:
a) cruelty-free
b) vegan
c) offer manageability

When I discovered that L'OREAL had become a cruelty-free company (even in China) I was thrilled  I was even more excited when they released their 100% vegan hair products and asked me to try them out.

THE NIGHT BEFORE

STEP NO. 1 | EverCreme Deep Nourish Shampoo

When I first get in the shower I immediately rinse my hair with warm water in order to saturate each strand in preparation for the shampooing process.  After my entire head is wet, I apply a quarter-size amount of the EverCreme Deep Nourish Shampoo into my hand and work it first into my roots and then into the rest of my hair — this shampoo not only smells delicious but a little goes a long way and you don't need to waste the product in order to get full coverage.  After lathering, I wait about three minutes and then I rinse.

STEP NO. 2 | EverCreme Deep Nourish Conditioner

After rinsing, I take a nickle-sized amount of the EverCreme Deep Nourish Conditioner and apply it to the ends of my hair an area where I typically have damage and dryness.  If my hair is feeling particularly dry, or if I want extra hydration, I apply the conditioner from my ears down.  After about a minute, I thoroughly rinse out the product.  As someone who is prone to buildup, I've found that this product washes out very well and doesn't stick to each strand of hair like other conditioners do.

STEP NO.3 | EverCreme Renourishing Butter

Once a week, I will use the EverCreme Renourishing Butter to give my hair extra hydration and repair any split ends or breakage.  I start by applying the product to my ends only (the product is super creamy and thick so in order to prevent buildup on my scalp I focus the butter on my ends) and letting it sit in my hair for about five minutes. After the five minutes is over, I rinse out the product and am left with super soft and healthy hair.

THE NEXT DAY

Like I mentioned in the beginning of this post, I am terrible at fixing my hair.  Thankfully, Alexandra Santi (AKA The Caffeinated Chair) from Zazu Salon in Naperville hooked me up with a Serena van der Woodsen inspired 'do that perfectly fits my romantic-bohemian style. Alexandra started by loosely curling my hair, then making a thick braid on both sides of my hair.  Then, she took all of my hair and pinned it to make a messy low bun.  She finished off the look with a touch of hairspray, and I was off!  The great thing about this look is that it can be worn day-to-night, and if you're also struggling in the hair fixing department opt. for a low ballerina bun with curled face-framing pieces   it's an easy way to achieve a put-together look.
