STREET STYLE TURNED PREPPY

STREET STYLE TURNED PREPPY

Every now and then, I enjoy changing up my style from "street-style" to "preppy". Yesterday, I went shopping to the fashion outlets by my house, and stopped at J.Crew. Luckily for me, they were having a HUGE sale. I'm talking H-U-G-E. Everything that I bought was 60% off. As I was rummaging through the racks of clothing, I was a little nervous to try on some of the pieces that were extremely preppy.

I ended up buying only two things from J.Crew, both of which are very versatile pieces that can be dressed up for a more preppy look, or dressed down if I ever want to create it into a "street-style" outfit.

The first thing that I bought were these gorgeous pair of lavendar chino shorts. For those of you who do not know what chino shorts are, they are khaki-like materaial but in different colors and patterns other than khaki.

With the same pair of light pink chinos, you're able to accomplish both a preppy and street-style look. In addition to two completely different outfits, chinos are super comfortable so you're able to have movement without looking or feeling like you're wearing khakis.

Another staple piece that I bought from J.Crew was one of their signature linen-cotton mini skirts. I've been seeing these get styled on various fashion blogs, and I have been wanting to purchase one for quite some time. Since J.Crew was having a huge sale, I decided that I should finally buy one. Instead of buying my usual dark-colored clothing, I decided to chose a color that was a little more feminine and preppy; something that I would not normally pick out for myself.

By adding simpler pieces to the same skirt, you're able to create a more casual relaxed outfit than the outfit with nautical prints and classier shoes.

Regardless of your style, both staples pieces such as the chino shorts and linen skirt can be used in a preppy sort of way or a street-style way. So head out to your nearest J.Crew and start picking up your newest staple pieces for your wardrobe.

XOXO, Amanda
