HAIR DARE | WHAT I WANT TO TRY BUT AM TOO AFRAID TO DO
I'm bored. Mainly with my hair. When you think about it, hair is such a dull aspect of life. It's always the same, there is hardly any variations to hair unless you take drastic measures that will leave people questioning if you actually are who you say you are.
Thinking about this concept, I decided to come up with a list of every hair style and color that I wanted to try. Keep in mind, I have been every (natural-looking) color of Ombre style that you can think of. I have been red-ombre, blond-ombre, light brown-ombre, and platinum-ombre. I have never been one to do drastic changes to my entire head of hair.
And of course, it would make sense for only ME to be wanting to dye my hair all fun and crazy just when it started to get very healthy. BWAB logic right?
1) Dark brown TO Platinum
This trend has been surfacing on YouTube for about a month now. I have seen at least 3 YouTuber's that have changed their naturally dark hair to a very very blonde. And, let me tell you, I'm LOVING it. The key to pulling off this trend flawlessly is to keep your eyebrows dark, this way, it allows for a runway-model esque look to be achieved.
The first reason I am hesitant on doing this is because bleaching your hair completely strips away the natural color, causing your hair to be completely free of your natural color, making it hard to ever go back to your birth-color for a long time (unless you're willing to have gross looking roots for a painful amount of time).
The next reason as to why I am scared of trying this trend is because it's extremely damaging. In general, my hair forms split ends and breakage extremely easily. Not to mention, having parched hair is only another benefactor of damaged ends. NOT CUTE.
Though both of these reasons are causing me to stray from my dream of having blonde hair, for some reason, I still really want to get it done. Here are some girls who have done it! Think I can pull it off, let me know in the comments below.
2) Red Highlights
Though this trend is a little less daring, I'm still afraid to go and get it done. Since I have tried DIY-ing my own ombre, I want to dry DIY highlights, but am afraid that they might turn out streaky. Because of this, I am tempted to go to a hair salon, yet I don't want to pay the hefty price that salon's charge (do you know a good and reasonable hair salon in the Chicagoland area? if so, let me know in the comments below!).
As I was scrolling through Pinterest -- like usual -- I was captivated by the beautiful dark brown and reddish highlights that were being shown. I am so in love with those two colors and the way that they work so well with each other without looking fake or out of place.
The pictures below are taken off of my Pinterest, let me know in the comments below if I should do my hair like this!
3) The Lob:
For as long as I can remember, I have always been the one to cry at the hair salon whenever the stylist cut my hair even a 1/2 inch shorter than I had wanted. But as I have gotten older, and have realized that hair is JUST HAIR, I have enjoyed cutting my hair and ridding it from split ends and breakage. Just recently, I have decided that cutting my hair in a Lob (long bob) would be an easy and effortless style. I personally am someone who not only fails at fixing hair, but hates doing anything with my hair (including washing it, gross I know). So, it would only make sense that I would want shorter hair, even given my cry-baby past.
Currently, my hair is about 3 inches long than shoulder length, and in order to achieve the Lob look, I would need to snip 2 additional inches off of my hair. The images below show (taken from Pinterest) what I want my hair to look like. Do you think I can pull it off? Let me know in the comments below!
Do you like any of these daring hairstyles? Do you think I should change my hair to look like one or more of these pictures? If so, I would love if you could tell me in the comments below!!
