MINIMALISTIC | A "STYLE FOR LESS" SEGMENT

MINIMALISTIC | A "STYLE FOR LESS" SEGMENT

Whether you read Vogue, Marie-Claire, or Lucky, somewhere in those pages filled with editorials, up-and-coming celebs, and pricey "get the look" collages you have seen the latest spring/summer trend of dressing minimalistic.  Though the queen of dictionaries has yet to define this haute look, dictionary.com on-the-other-hand has defined it as: (of an artistic style) using simple elements with little embellishment.  While this trend may seem like it would be inexpensive considering the lack of flashy garments, it is actually a lot more expensive than you would think.

For this segment of "Style for Less", I will be showing you three runway and fashion magazine worthy minimalistic outfits, then recreating them to fit a more affordable price range.

Happy reading.

LOOK NO. 1 (inspo. pictures compliments of style.com

You usually see culottes paired with all black, looking very "high-fashion" (check out look no.2 for an example).  But sometimes it's nice to dress your culottes in a way that is more casual and less obvious.  While browsing the internet on my favorite go-to fashion sites, I stumbled upon this look below.  With the natural colored culottes paired with a denim jacket and snakeskin ankle booties, I knew this was a look that all of my resident fashionista's out there would LOVE.

LOOK NO.2: (inspo. pictures compliments of refinery29.com)

Like I mentioned in the above look, THIS look is seen almost everywhere.  But the part of this outfit that stood out the most to me were her slip-ons.  This type of shoe has become a major trend this whole year.  They're casual looking but can easily be made to accompany a high-fashion street style look.  And instead of the typical black leather slip-ons (that almost everyone seems to own from Topshop), the one's in this look were white, making them the statement of this outfit.

OUTFIT DETAILS

Pants: Acne Studios: $530

Tank: Rag & Bone: $150

Shoes: Everlane: $140

TOTAL COST: $820

OUTFIT DETAILS

LOOK NO.3 (inspo. picture's compliments of refinery29.com)

I adore the look below.  As much of a "boho princess" that I am, I would definitely give this look a try, even with my dislike towards anything with a collar when I put it on myself.  But because of the way this chambray dress lays, the collar is softer and more relaxed causing it to not frame your face in a way that some collared shirts do, but rather in a way that adds more structure to your jaw-line.  Even though this outfit from Refinery 29 didn't include the outfit details for the leggings or coat, I found dupes for the one she was wearing and the total cost still ended up being cheaper!  Fashionista's rejoice!

OUTFIT DETAILS

Dress: AYR: $150

Booties: Rachel Comey: $398

TOTAL COST: $548

OUTFIT DETAILS

Dress: Forever 21: $28

Booties: Topshop: $65

Leggings: Forever 21: $4

Coat: H & M: $70

TOTAL COST: $167

Since this trend is all about dressing minimal.  Instead of spending the big bucks at places such as Acne Studios and Rag & Bone... try spending MINIMAL money on some of my favorite clothing store dupes.
